How to SOS during emergency evacuation

Hi... I just wanted to know on the above subject since weather conditions have begun to take the trail in the Garhwal ranges. This would be a source of valuable information for the forum and I have no idea about this.

In case of emergency evacuation required, how to send an SOS message if trekking is planned by our own.
Do you need to register with any SOS agency before beginning the trek?? If yes, what formalities required and charges to be paid to SOS agency and IAF rescue team?? How does IAF get the information about this news of the group requiring emergency evacuation help..

I would expect if this can be elaborated to the maximum. Who knows this an be useful to anyone and life saving also..

Regards,
Amit

Thumbs down Chopper rescue

Chopper rescue is done by the Indian Army at the behest of IMF. Payment involved is something like Rs 60,000 per flying hour. Expect to spend around a lakh and a half.... to be paid in advance.

Radio transceivers are not ordinarily allowed, without which you will take a few days to SOS your rescuer (in this case, Indian Army instructed by IMF). Also, IMF is a Babu organization, and I need not tell you how Babus work (or NOT work) in India.

Its time consuming, hence impractical OR practically non existent. If you are in the Army, you can possess a transceiver set and you can get rescued pretty fast. Insurance funded evacuation is non-existent in India.

Avid is correct !

And it is not easy to handle IMF deposit either.

SECOND WAY: If someone from DC/SDM office takes initiative...and news comes in media...then state pays for evacuation. But everyone is not that lucky !

FUNDAMENTALS OF EVACUATION:

1. You should prepare yourself according to this reality that there can not be and should not be any air lift.

2. Mannual rescue depends on your agency/guide how he handles it. Recently there is accident in PINDARI region...but guide arranged people to carry injured and dead before civil autherities started rescue.

3. Guide- if he/she is good can handle rescue but this depends on situation and resources. it maynot be possible for sick/injured to carry on shoulders...most guides prefer to be in some safe area and then send someone to village for help.

But if situation does not allow this- then available resources have to be utilized for rescue.

BUT UNDER NO CONDITION-YOU WAIT OR HOPE FOR ANY AIRLIF UNLESS YOU HAVE PAID FOR IT.

* Settelite phones are not allowed in most trails. There is cumbersome procedures and screenings before they allow.
