oops....nor did I know that those 'butts' are non-biodegradable....oh such an ignorant sinner. Whenever I enjoy smoking I only hope that these paper pipes are not causing any environmental issues like those caused by coffee, coke and the like. I never attempted to search for any such connection for I feared if I find one I will have to quit. (trying to be more committed to the environment than my pleasures huh!!). I hope the same for beer and vodka.
Honestly speaking I just drop the butts after making sure that they do would not lead to any fire. Disposing the butts in an environmental friendly way never occurred and I still wonder what that could be. I think burning wud not be bad enough. And how on earth without filters are safer than with filters... the whole purpose of that filter thing would defy in that case what's the chemistry behind that statement??? Curious!

It's one of those give and take things.
The filters take out some tar, and maybe some other stuff --- though I think they are largely a way to make people think that what they are smoking is better than it is. ISTR some study (could be wrong) that changing to a low-tar brand was of very little benefit compared to giving up. The paper, though, contains other stuff, such as the stuff that makes it keep burning when you're not actually smoking. It is this additional stuff that makes people claim hand-rolled to be healthier. My take is that, if I have to stand next to a smoker, I'd rather stand nest to a roller. As a passive smoker (and I'd rather not) it seems to hurt my lungs less. I'm far from sure that that was true in the days that my smoking was of the less-passive variety. Is that really a tobacco plant?? I can just see a big leaf where your knee is - but then my eyesight is not the best!!! Actually, on a second look it looks like a backpack...

It is a tobacco plant, yes. And I'm horrified by how young I looked --- a mere two years ago
.Somewhat offtopic, but on the side: who can identify the location of my pic? Believe it or not, there is sufficient info there, as people who know the place well will confirm... |

Is it Skegness?
Buck - Free and Healing for One Year, Seven Days, 17 Hours and 29 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 33 Days and 15 Hours, by avoiding the use of 9691 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me £2,214.21. |

Err... no. I'm baffled here, as to whether there really is something to suggest that in the pic --- or if this is another dose of your sense of humour, which ISTR is of the dry and slightly surreal kind. Not that your humour is not very welcome, of course: it is ![]() |

I don't know about your clues... it looks like water in the background and some kind of awning up top with an awful lot of spiky things around. this thumbnail is a real challenge. You look in your late 20's by the way, could it be gaol garden beside a lake?????? The spiky things??

Second thought - maybe in a Botanical Garden and you are an attendant with the blue shirt uniform - a tobacco plant surrounded by cacti??

Ciggies might not be good for the garden, but the ashes do a great job of stopping slugs from eating hostas in the garden.

I am 55 and now look it... that is an Indian Kurta (from FabIndia, I think) and the location is a famous one in UK. Botanical garden gets a 'warm'!

Please, do we have to go on with this in the trekking and mountaineering forum? Perhaps, time to move it to Chai and Chat ...
