How much weight does a porter carry
Hi,
I am pushing off Kalindi pass on thursday. My guide and local contact who is arrnaging for porters, says that for Kalindi pass, the porters carry just 18 kg of weight compared to 25 kg carried fro other treks.. Is this true??

Now porters carry 15-18 kgs.each.In some routes they want rucksacks also to carry the load.

If we push it
If we push it a bit, they can be pesuaded to carry 25 kgs or even 30 kgs on low altitude [below 14000] treks.
But this "pushing"is done by the porter sirdaar, not by us. Here it seems your sirdaar is setting the limits. Considering its Kalindi khal, 18 kg seems ok. My Pin Parvati porters carried 20 kg. Plus all of them have 5 to 7 kg personal load, which, in this case, also contains heavy woollies for high altitude ....
