Thumbs up Hi all,

Thank you friends, I was reading some other threads regarding this trip and found some more helpful info and some tips. I am going to start tomorrow and today is the last day I am online before the trip so I thought to check for some tips here. If you think any information / warning / advice can help me …. Please do not hesitate.

BTW, I wanted to reach Joshimath from Hardwar on 16th itself (not planning to stay at Hardwar) and I guess I need to reserve a jeep for that. Hence, can anyone give me some idea how much should I pay for that? Or any shared jeep service is available from Hardwar?

“the autumn sky in July” – Sadanand jee you are absolutely right. The sky was exactly the same.

Jyoti da, it is the weather that can make some difference. It was great !!!!

Some more pix are uploaded but more to come. Hope today I’ll be able to upload rest of the pix.

Thanks.

This is just for your information that Indian Mountaineering Foundation(IMF) used the term 'trekking expeditions' while approving our various treks from time to time.

IMF approvals facilitated the employees of the Govt. and Public Sector Undertakings to get special paid leave once in a year not exceeding 30 days for trekking and mountaineering. I don't know whether Special leave scheme for trekking is still valid now . Besides, IMF approvals helped us in getting inner line permits, wherever necessary, without much hassels.

Somnath .... Thank for your sharing your beautiful VOF pictures! ... which I just now finished viewing. I too visited VoF, a week after you; but I am able to see the snow-clad peaks in the Valley only now, in your pictures! When I was up in Ghangaria & VoF it was drizzling and misty most of the days .. so I saw no peaks.... KS

Ohhh……. Bad luck. KS, we were discussing the same …. Such a clear sky for continuous 3 – 4 days was exceptional.

Anyways, thank you KS. And where is your photographs? Please provide the URL (if it is already uploaded). May be you are planning for another trip next year?

SPECIAL PAID LEAVE????. In addition to normal annual leave? On my tax rupees???
Now we know why govt officers have such low productivity - they're all out on treks!!

Somnath,

I've only seen the first 3 pages of your VOF folder, of which I liked this one the best:
http://www.ringo.com/photos/photo.ht...toId=227612245

My question is, what makes the gurdwara management so sure that everyone who visits can read English?

Despite the leave incentive, only a handful of staff (out of around 17000 staff in the organisation in which I worked till March '97) used to take advantage of this scheme. Afterall a lot of prepratory work is involved in planning a trek and more importantly you are not only required to trek but also successfully complete the trek!
