Help : Novice wanting to go on a holiday. Expert advice needed :)
Hello all,
This is my first post here, i and a few friends (2 in nos) are planning a 10 days holiday. But the problem is we are not much travelled and have very less clue about north india. I am looking for expert advice in terms of which area would be best to vist and also area around the same which can be visited. Places which interest us are : gangotri / binsar / almora Places which dont interest us are : jim corbett. I dont mind going for a trek in one of those 10 days. BUt please guys leet me know which is the area that we need to hit. Is uttaranchal a good idea ? can we have good fun in 7 days (3 days for travel from mumbai) or any othere place where we can look at different places but only the limited days. As you would have seen i am tootally confused about where i should go. so please friends do help me. cheers, j |

Hi Jayvmehta..welcome to IndiaMike....Yes Uttranchal is a good choice..10 days is good enough time to explore either Kumaun or Garhwal.
Almora,Ranikhet,Binsar,Nainita l all are close to each other. Best time to visit is March/April and September/October.. If you want to go for trek.... 1) Pindari Glacier (soft trek) 2) Kafni Glacier (soft trek) can be done easily in 6 days(3 up +3 down) |

You need to go through the threads here in the "Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand" forum
A wealth of information on Uttaranchal/Uttarakhand. I suggest, fly to Delhi overnight train to Haldwani 7 days in Binsar/Chaukori/Munsiyari range. |

I really enjoyed trekking in Kashmir. We had tea in a Gypsy home. That was an experience. Read about it at www.indiatravelliveshop.com/adventuretravel.html.
