Trekking to Har Ki Dun - 20th April
I am planning to go solo on this trek carrying my own backpack.
A few questions to my experienced predecessors:
1. Can I manage without a tent?
2. Can I manage to find accommodation without advance booking at this time of the year?
3. Can I find food along the way - supplemented by dry rations?
4. Can I manage without a guide - I have heard that the route is all along the river and clearly marked?
Thanks a ton

Chits, thanks for the quick response. I booked at Har ki dun/Osla and Taluka.Another question: I want to visit Ruinsara lake. Is it possible to trek to Ruinsara and back the same day using Seema as base? Alternatively, is it possible to hire tent/sleeping bags at Seema?
thanks again
Renting tents from Seema, i dont think its a viable option, don't bet on that.
Runisara tal is far , one day come & go is not possible unless you are professional, even though you can't enjoy, better go in a grounp atleast to Runisara Tal , its lonely trails..

Are there any homestays in Osla?
Chits thanks once again. I will plan Ruinsara Lake portion with a guide.
Another question addressed to those who have been recently to Har ki dun. I have heard it mentioned (at a talk organized by the Himalayan club) that villagers have started homestays on the Har ki dun route. Is anyone aware of a homestay in Osla? My predicament is that Osla GMVN is fully booked on the night I will reach Osla after visiting Ruinsara lake
thanks for any help..

homestay might have been started coz the route see huge traffic , Osla is a viilage opposite to Seema (Tons river in between).Duryodhan temple is in Osla,and osla is a proper village, Seema is just a GMVN couple of hotels and temple.
You can count on homestay...

Guide/porter/tent charges
I just found out charges for engaging a porter / tent etc for Har ki dun/Ruinsara Tal trek
Porter cum guide -> Rs 350/day
Tent -> Rs 150/day
Sleeping Bag -> Rs 50/day
Question for anyone in the know:
Are these reasonable?
