I have done this myself but didn't get this much snow. Your favorite picture is really stunning.

yes, absolutely, there was. the snowstarted in patches from seema. if u see the first pic on day 4, then u will notice that the snow patches r just a few metres above the garhwal mandal guest house (it is at the bottom of the pic). these patches slowly increades in frequency n size as u began that massive climb.

then remember, there is a point with a 270 degree view, from where hkd suddenly comes into view...there is also a small bridge over there. there was lots of snow around that bridge.

then, u had continuous snow from about 4 kms before har ki dun.

hey, i was checking ur blog. u went to uttaranchal a few days ago. well, i am going to chopta/tungnath on thursday. so how is the weather out there right now??
and do u know the approx cost of getting a taxi for 3 days (fri, sat n sun)??? the gmvn ppl r asking for 1850/day + taxes (which is just too much)

har ki doon in october

I am planning to do har ki doon trek in mid-october...can anyone tell me if there is anyway to get to taluka by jeep(as we are short of time and it would be better if we can save a day by going all the way to taluka by jeep...and will the GMVN guest houses be open in mid-october? Could someone please give me a contact of some reliable guides/trekking agencies in dehradun/mussoorie who can organize the har ki doon trek for us.
Thanks in advance

You can go till sankri by jeep. Taluka -- tough for a jeep..maybe it can go halfway. but i doubt if a jeep can go all the way till Taluka.
