Hi,everybody
1)Is booking of the GMVN hut at HKD necessary for travel during May?
2)Do we need to carry rations?
3)Are sleeping bags needed or will the rest houses provide us with kilts/
4)Is the Swargarohini base camp doable in a day and is a guide needed for that?
plz help me out on this.

in may GMVN HKD is running
at HKD GMVN everything is available in April end we had Omellete Maggi etc at HKD
sleeping in MAY is not required..we went HKD in december with bags but we didnt used it..best to have the deluxe room at HKD in which their is a fire place and if u still feel cold put two quilts thats what we did in december..

Swargarohni base..yes take guide and some ice axe etc also..

hi,
the link is not opening.
GMVN only allows booking of the executive beds and not dormitory beds. The person at GMVN office however said that beds will be available....

Hi There,

I do not have much to add the information you have been seeking and the advice has been given to you. Why I am replying is Risara tal is on one side and Har ki Dun on the other of the river.

There is not much to see at Ruisara Tal, unless you are going to Bali Pass, then the tal is on the way. The Tal itself is not much to look at.

Marinda Tal is not a tal in the true sense ofthe word, A big rock has fallen inthe middle ofthe stream and it has widened out that is Marinda Tal.

My photographs of Har Ki Dun and Ruisara Tal are here.
Happy viewing and good trekking

Why rush.
The view from Sankri is also very good, if there is no hurry start for Taluka the next day. It takes about 4 hours to reach it at a fairly leisurely pace. Taluka itself is very good view wise. The lake has dried up.
To get agood view at Har Ki Dun stay the night there if the sky is not clear on arrival. In the mornings the skies are generally clear barring the monsoon season. If possible go up to Jamdar Glacier its about 3 kilometers from Har Ki Dun.
