going to munsyari next week. info needed on buses from delhi
hi folks,
i am leaving for munsyari. just need some info on good buses from anand vihar isbt. last time i was going to kathgodam, i went from airport to isbt (which took 40 mins by taxi!!!). then i caught the first bus for kathgodam, that was OUTSIDE the bus stop (in the small field nearby). now it was a private one and these guys don't leave till they get the buses full (including the seats in the cabin next to the driver, and the seat just behind the driver). so it started off abit late and was almost midnightwhen it was out of delhi. as a result i reached kathgodam at around 8:30 am, while i wanted to reach earlier. so now can anyone advice me on some other buses (even govt ones), that leave on their fixed time?? if possible, some slightly comfy ones pls ![]()

I remember taking comfy night buses from Nainital to Delhi few year back. They were leaving on time from Nainital. I think the same bus passes through Kathgodam also. though not sure of bus timings from Delhi.
You may want to take a comfy train seat in kathgodam express which leaves Old Delhi around 10PM and reached kathgodam at 5:30 AM. How far is Munsiyari from Kathgodam? I have seen direct buses for Munsiyari from Rishikesh but not sure if thats a shrter option.

hi cyberhippe n jyotida,
yup, the above link definitely helped. will now contact the a vihar office. jyotida, i am not thinking of taking the train coz last tiem also, the flight was delayed and i had to miss my train. finally i had to go to the bus stop n get the bus. and munsyari is in the eastern part of kumaon, uttarakhand - approximately, the area where india, nepal n tibet meet. and rishikesh is more towards the west of uttarakhand. so u shld not go to munsyari from delhi via rishikesh. u shld go from via kathgodam. last year i had done this journey in 2 days, going from kathgodam to bageshwar and then from there to munsyari. this time i guess i will take an early mornign taxi from kathgodam. just wanted a comfy bus so that i can get soem sleep and then enjoy the views while travelling the next day ![]() |

hi
hi,
there used to be a direct bus to Munsiary from Delhi. But not anymore. Now I think the bus from Delhi goes as far as Nachni via Pithoragarh. And KMOU( Kumaon Motor Owers Union) bus leaves KathgodaM early in the morning about 2-00AM. And also from Almora the bus to Munsiary leaves at 5-30 AM. If you miss the bus, the only other iption is to book a jeep all the way to Munsiary. I am sure you will definitely enjoy the scenary on the way . and you don't have to go to Bageswar if you are taking a jeep. From Almora, go to Barechina, Dhaulichina, Seraghat, Berinag, Thal and then onto Tejam, Ratapani, Munsiary. If you reach Delhi in time, taking Ranikhet exp is a better option. You can get some refreshing sleep and enjoy the next day's jeep ride also. Visit Khalia top, Maser tal, Balati farm also. But at this time, I am more worried about the weather. Have a great time. |

Dlehi -munsyari bus is never sure..DO NOT COUNT ON IT.
Go to NAINITAL and there you will find direct bus. back route should also be same. Jyoti is correct - there are tourist buses [ some are 2x2 ] runs from NAINITAL to DELHI in night. |

hi, i have uploaded the pics (smaller versions - thumbnail sizes of 1200*800 pix)
i am still figuring how to upload the larger ones (8 mpix resoolution, 2 gb of jpg images). i will try to upload them also and then try to hyperlink the smaller images to the larger images. no write up yet, coz busy with lots of work at the workplace. will do it after 2 weeks. if u "just" wanna look at the pics, u can check from the blog home page : http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2006/0...himalayas.html or from the trip home page: http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2006/1...kend-trek.html if any link does not work, do tell me. |
