Hi. I am going to the Himalayas, from June 19, 2009, to July 3, 2009. I am going to Hardwar, Rishikesh, Joshimath, Badrinath, GhANGARIA/Valley of Flowers, Gaurikund, Uttarkashi, Gangatri. Has anyone ever met OR has ANY idea HOW to meet the great souls who are there. I know they will not come out just to meet anybody. Even though I was brought up in the US all my life, I just know somehow in my past lives I used to live high up in the Himalayas. My soul remembers that. Any advice on real gurus? I do plan to go to the Ashrams there (Swami Sivnanda, Blue-eyed Baba, etc.), but I am talking about the Gurus that are up in the mountains on their own. It is probably good to take a local guide from each place to knows these things, right?

Thanks for any and all serious advice and help.

Namaste.

This is a trekking section, not some guru/baba hunt yojana.
Sorry but all this a big offtopic

my 2 cents

Hi, Lucid.

Don't mean to be disrespectful at all. But the Himalayas and High Souls are part and parcel. My question included trekking to wherever THEY are to meet them. Who else but people checking this Himalayan Forum site are likely to know anything?

If anyone has a clue, please fill me in. Thanks.

I like your optimism but I doubt if anybody can help you in this. However, be very careful with this frame of mind, as you become soft targets for all kind of imposters and swindlers. Use the logic with people and faith when you are alone, I am sure you will find the way.

Thanks ALL of you for caring and for your help and advice. I know most are swindlers but I hope in my heart of hearts I will actually come across a REAL one. I have looked in so many places but have not yet gone to the Himalayass. Maybe Babaji himself? tilak2909, thanks for the piece of info. I will let you know what happens.

Yeah all the best, maybe all you need is some pure blissful moments in the himalayas and the REAL baba inside you will wake up.

Rest of the baba's are role players, IMHO

Go with an open mind and listen to your heart - you will find the one you are looking for I am sure.
you could look up on Muniji at Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh and if you are up in Uttarkashi look up Swami Premananda and Mata Brahmajyoti. Let me know if you want to meet them. I have met many sadhus and sadhvis but the ones i have mentioned are a class apart. The only one who stands above them is my own guru.

Hi, livinhimalayas. I would love to meet them. I am going to Rishikesh and Uttarkashi. Just so we don't bore everyone else, please e-mail me at sonabhatnagar@hotmail.com. Who is your guru?

Thanks, lucid, spicetrekker, tilak2909 for all help.

I hope to find my own guru in me! Namaste.
