Question Gaumukh in February?

I am going to be in India in February and was thinking of trekking to the source of the Ganges.Can anyone tell me if it is accessible at this time of year or is it snowbound?

thanks

Its snowbound unless the Global warming this year is exceptional

In fact the river is frozen over at Gangotri itself which is two days march and much below Gaunukh. I have a sadhu friend who lives there [Gangotri]... he has to cut the ice to fetch water.

no transportation, no permit, no porter-guide, no food, no water, no path, only ice and snow, so no way .

@scotsman50uk

Perhaps you can look at other treks in February where yiu are less likely to encounter deep snow+ no roads.

Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila and the ridge walk from there to Deoria Tal is an option as is (in the Eastern Himalayas) the Singalila Ridge: Maneybhanjan-Sandkphu etc.

Cheers!
