Garhwal weather updates? please!!
Hi folks,
I am planning a trip to Gangotri. I am planning to be there by May 15th. Is it too early?. I plan to get to Tapovan. Will I be trodding in lots of snow?. And How cold would it be?. The crowd is a little mixed and I am not sure how much they can handle the elements. Since, this winter was heavy, I thought the route may not have opened out enough. Any weather related info would be useful. Thanks kaushik |

Though the weather is not very promising but I am sure you could make it upto Tapovan if you are heading on May 15th. We had some groups already came back visiting Tapovan in Mid April month.
You have to be well equipped for the trek as still its preseason. You require Good Trekking shoes, Sleeping bags, Tents, and Personal Clothings. |

Yes- we can not predict weather but as himalayaputra said...you can reach TAPOBAN. But do not try to crossover the glacier for further trekking-this requires a good guide and equipment also.
Nights could be colder-so have some good equipment and personal clothing with you. |
