sleeping reservations?

I want to hike to Gaumukh and possibly Topovan in June, during the busy pilgrimage season. Will I be able to find a place to sleep (tent or dorm) in Bhojhasa when I arrive, or should I try to make reservations ahead of time (that's possible with GMVN tourist bungalows)? I know it's a busy time of year and I don't want to get stuck out in the cold.
Thanks.

you will easily get an accomodation with food in bhoojbasa & Tapovan at Lalbaba ashram & mounibaba/Mataji ashram respectively for a nominal cost. No need to make prior reservation.

Jai Ma Ganga

Hi All,
Myself and my parents are planning to visit Gangotri-Gaumukh during first week of October-09.
I am thinking to arrange ponies for my parents from Gangotri to Bhujwasa.
I am planning to go upto Tapoban with Guide, while my parents will be staying @Bhujwasa after visiting Gaumukh.

Our itinerary is given below..

1/10 : Reach Haridwar . Stay @Haridwar
2/10 : Haridwar -> Uttarkashi Stay@Uttarkashi
3/10 : Uttarkashi(Arrangement for Permit process and hiring Tents/Sleeping bag)->Gangotri Stay@Gangotri
4/10 : Stay @Gangotri for acclimatization
5/10 : Gangotri -> Bhujwasa Stay@Bhujwasa
6/10 : Bhujwasa -> Gaumukh -> Tapoban Stay@Tapoban
7/10 : Tapoban -> Bhujwasa
8/10 : Bhujwasa -> Gangotri -> Uttarkashi Stay @Uttarkashi
9/10 : Uttarkashi to Haridwar Stay @Haridwar

Please comment..

a) If any change/updation/correction is required in the above program.
b) Whether the ponies will come back to Gangotri on the same day they left from there
c) Any extra precautions required for my parents

Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks
Debajyoti..

Hi Debajyoti,

We are doing a similar trip during first week of Oct.
We might meet you guys while trekking. I noticed that you are from Kolkata - true Bengali..

Please read the following thread which will give you lots of info:
Trip to Gangotri and Gaumukh

Please note that the trekking rules have changed since 2008 and no ponies or Palkis are allowed for the Gaumukh trekking. You just walk and walk…

You also have to apply for trekking permission from DFO’s office at Uttarkashi.

Please read the following:

Please research a bit more and you will find that only 150 people are allowed per day and no ponies or mules are allowed.

I am glad you asked them to clarify this.
As my Hindi is not up to scratch, I haven’t spoken to them. I relied on the information given in the pdf document, IndiaMike and others who have done this trek.

We will be trekking to Bhojbasa on 9th Oct. When are you doing this trek?

Ahh, you will have finished trekking before we get there.
It would have been nice to meet you and your family, but best of luck any way.
