Unhappy Gangotri - badrinath

Hi everybody,
anyone of you can give me info about a trek from Gangotri to Badrinath throught Nandanvan and Kalindi Pass.

I asked info in a trek agency, but they are going to ask me 1200 $.
I never saw 1200 $ in my life.
Any advice???

Thanks

Question Kaalindi Khaal Pass Crossing

The Kaalindi Khaal pass is a dangerous crossing. Not advisable after say last week of september. If you are already there and ready to start trekking in three days, you can proceed. Local conditions should be ascertained.

Even in high summer, KK Pass is not a cake walk. You may require ice axe, rope, crampons. If the snow is not too deep, you may do it in trekking shoes (as opposed to koflach plastic boots). Some sadhus have done this crossing barefoot..... but then they were exceptional sadhus.

What is your experience as a trekker? as a mountaineer? By all means do the KK Pass crossing.... just telling you to go well prepared.
The Universe is an ellipsoid?... or a Spheroid?? If the sphere smiles... it becomes an ellipse. This IS Creation.

Go to Milam, Sunderdoonga and Kafni glacier-treks, Jeroen has posted an excellent account in the Trekking and Mountaineering section.

Other options

Since you were originally planning to go to Source of Ganga (Gaqumukh). You can further extend your trek to Tapoavn, NandanVan and Vasuki Tal. If you are fit you can do it.. You dont need any special gears for the trek.

I been to Tapovan in August. I didnt go ahead to NandanVan and Vasuki. There are marks made using small bunch of rocks. This wont really help you much since it involes crossing the Gangotri glacier (Tapovan-NandanVan) and then crossing the chaturangi glacier(Nandanan-Vasuki Tal). dont try to do this stretch without a proper guide.
You can go till Gaumukh or even till tapovan without a guide.

Experience needed

You need to have some sort of experience in high altitude trek before attempting tke Kalindi Pass trek. There are lots of treks where you can gather the experience before attempting it. You can however trek upto Tapovan or Nandanvan. The best time to trek in this region is between May-June and Sept-Mid. Oct.

Gangotri Badrinath

Hasari Pal

All posts are correct and sincere-do not try to go alone or with someone who you are not sure is able to guide you.
This trail is high profile trail and requires good technical know-how and also qulaity equipment.

Better have a trek upto Tapoban. Beyond that is not good for you.

If you want tough trails but little bit safety also-try Kinner Kailash Circuit.
You require a permit ( new rule ) from Recong Peo but this will be safer than going alone beyond Gaumukh.

Hope this will help !
