Folding Stove: Have you seen this kind? Please see Photos
Hi Everybody,
I need some help. I bought a small stove - foldable - at a flea market sale in Delhi about a year back. However, I am not sure what fuel it uses. It did not have any instructions within it. If somebody could tell me if they've seen anything like this before and whether they knew what fuel(Kerosene? Spirit?) can be used in it I would be grateful. Thanks a tonne already! Anj |

What a neat thing
.Does it have a pump to pressurise the fuel? My bet is on kerosene, but I don't know.

like nick, I don't know either, but maybe propane? because it looks like a propane camping stove as one would use in the US. maybe one attaches a tube to that small tank that then attaches to a seperate propane tank.

Kerosene is the fuel of India, next down from propane and next up from wood (or cow dung) stoves.
But propane stoves surely wouldn't have a tank? No point in there being a reservoir of the stuff when all that is needed is a gas bottle and regulator. It would add greatly to the danger of a gas stove! |

Look like an antique . . .
could be either white gas (as we call it here in the states) or kerosene. Looks like an old Primus, or of that ilk . . . maybe look for "Made in . . . " information. A made in India tag may suggest kerosene usage, while if made in England or the like, white gas may be the fuel.
Newer multi-fuel stoves - ones that burn either white gas, kerosene or even gasoline have removable jets that need to be changed as the fuel used changes. Kerosene requires a larger diameter jet.

You tried asking at a shop that deals in household apparatuses and preferably fuels? (I'm sure some Delhi handyman could work it around to accommodate any fuel you want!) We still have shops like that here dealing in gas and petroleum canisters and lamps and stoves and heaters etc., I'd be surprised if India wouldn't have many more.
It looks like a nifty contraption indeed ![]()

I had a similar one, bought in Nepal, which used kerosene(paraffin) but there are some types which use petrol or white gas. If you bought it in Delhi, it will most likely use kerosene. Take care while using it as it is not very stable.

It looks like a knock-off of an R8 Primus (which used white gas for fuel). Check out the link as the pictures look similar and the explanation in the second post ring true. If there is no pump on the tank, it is likely also a white gas model as I'm pretty sure a kerosene/parafin model would require pumping in addition to priming.
