Everest Summit Become Easy or Human Getting More Determination

i've never climbed Everest so feel free to chastise me if you disagree, but i think some people here misunderstand the challenge of climbing Everest.

it's supposedly not all *that* difficult (remembering that 'difficult' is a relative term) a physical feat to climb it, but it is highly risky. the fatality rate for summiters is very high, usually on the way down afterwards as hypoxia(?) can set it in and your brain calls it a day.

it's really about cheating death so some degree.

I want to comprehend my point of view a little bit. Every Summit like Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, K2 etc. demands his own respect from his lovers and it should be. Equipments and Gadgets should be for supporting the mountaineers to reach the Summit but not for increasing the % of how comfortably one can reach there.
There are a few I want to specify:

1. Laptops for getting satellite weather forecast.
2. Binocular & Satellite phone for getting instruction from the expedition head in base camp.
3. Even there are some medicine to reduce the breathing problem.
etc. etc.

These are increasing the attempt percentage and obviously the success rate.

But, with all due respect to all the mountaineers who has reached or tried to reach the Everest Summit, I think somehow the legends of Sir. Tenjing, Sir. Hillery or Sir. Messner has a little bit blurred.

I'm really new in this field, but still want to share my point of view with u. If anywhere I'm wrong plz. make me correct.

Thats said, Everest may be the highest, but not the hardest to climb. K2 and Kanchenjunga are harder and many people perished in the expeditions. The number of succesess, attempts, deaths, and failures are proof of this.

an everest climb may be "easy" when weather conditions are right. But, if the weather turns on the climbers, its pretty much Game Over. Most climbers, IMHO, underestimate this risk becuase they pay all that money (how much is it these days) and have sherpas to hlpe thme carry most of their stuff. the sherpas are the true heros. the mankind's success in the himalayas is, to a large degree, attributable to them. For example, compare our repeated success in the himalayas to that in the Karakoram. There are no sherpas in the Karakoram

excelent point. Without whom it would probably be impossible. They are doing double the work and have the experience.

Hi,
With sherpas who are fixing ropes right to the top it is the question of having sufficient money and luck with weather. However, still altitude is altitude and others can not help you. You still have to move on your own.

Those who find the topic interesting might want to consider Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air. It is getting dated at this point, but it talks about what has become easy and what the mountain is still capable of - in the context of the 1996 disaster. Apart from weather prediction and all the other stuff, the main thing that has become better is altitude conditioning techniques and plans. Altitude is what makes is more than a strenuous and technical climb.

That said, I do find the example of 19-year old woman climbing as the source of incredulity and evidence of growing ease of ascent of Everest to be sexist. You ought to get out more

If you were talking of the 70-year old man doing it, you might have point. Me - I'm trying to fit it into my schedule around 68-th birthday...
