Hi Almoraboy,
Though you had posted the details last year i happened to see it today. You have really put in effort and seems it is full of details. It was difficult to read all you have written and so I have copied it for reading latter. As for the guide and porters are concerned can you give their charges abd the distance they shall cover in a day, which may be of great help in costing the trip.

guide details are given here:
http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2006/0...formation.html You can ring up KMVN and ask them for the charges. You can contact Ganga Ram or Laxma, or any of his cousins. It will be around 250 bucks/day. However, they also charge for a minimum of 10 days usually....so that they make at least 2000 bucks/trip. Besides that, u would have to pay for their food n lodging. I have put in only half the Milam glacier pics. will upload the rest pretty soon. distances -> these guys will walk with your pace. So, in my case, we used to cover 20 kms/day. But in the case of an elderly gentleman, i have seen them covering only 10 kms/day. That is why they charge for 10 days minimum. Coz if u walk pretty fast, then they might be at a loss, and this is the main source of hteir livlihood..around 4 treks to milam/year. i have uploaded most of the pics of the trek also onto my blog, with the details...will upload the rest later... here r the details... http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2007/0...home-page.html Last edited by machadinha : Jul 19th, 2007 at 07:36. Hi dude, what an excellent narrative of your trek..one can visualize every thing you have described and so even after almost 3 years it appears fresh as yesterday or today :-)

hi,
yup, i was inspired by dumbledore's pensieve..so i put in so much of details. it was a really tough and challenging trek. i would love to do it sometimes in winter..when the whole region is covered with snow...let us hope the govt someday allows tourism friendly policies in the border areas. |
