some pics from the uttarakashi - doditaal trek that we tried in feb 2k7
now, either our timing was bad or our 'bad luck' was
we started the trek and thes 2nd day a cold wave hit north india we ended up with a 5 day snow trek
it was more of 'over the edge' and less of relaxing trek
anyway some of the pics are here ,one of the reasons we came back safe was our excellent guide ( Mr bhagwat , snowspider treks and tours ,uttarakashi town ) will updt his contact details soon

of course , some of the pics

p.s
the frozen lake in the pics is not doditaal but nachiketa taal , 1 day trek from uttarakashi

Mod note: Since we no longer accept posts with many large pics, the pics have been changed into links. The Photo Gallery is the place to post many photos - only one or two for the threads. It is too slow for members with slow connections to open the thread otherwise. Thumbnails may be posted here or links to pics.

AWESOME is the word...really awe inspiring..

Can you share some more details about the trek, a trip log maybe?

in the meantime, some questions from my side?

It was 5-day snow trek? What was the original schedule?

What was the budget (total and/or per person)?

Best time to start Trek?

Level of difficulty for a noob like me (Hard, medium, easy)?

any other details about the trek would be greatly appreciated.

keep up the good work.

adihere -

Did you tent camp, or did you stay in fixed structures? Did you supply the equipment or the spider trek? How much did it costs? This is an option for us next December, so some more details would be appreciated. The link you gave was just for the spider trek website, not to a blog about the trip - right?

he arranged for couple of backpacks too
just some woolen layers, personal items ,inner wear is all we bought
rest we hired from snowspider
snowspider guy's got a cost sheet of items on hire
you can just email him and he should email you the details i guess

I just came back from Dodital And Darwa Pass trek. We hired tents and some other stuff from Snow Spider Trek and Tours and found the price to be quite reasonable.

Dodital was partially frozen and night temperatures easily dipped to -10 degrees. Moreover Darwa Pass was subzero even at 1:30 in the afternoon. Several inches of snow and an imminent storm stopped us from reaching the Darwa Top and we got back as quick as we could to avoid getting stuck.

Undoubtedly the most memorable experience I have had !
