Question Dodital Queries

Hello everyone.
I need some advice on Dodital trip in December (from 5th Dec to 19th Dec). I was considering HKD or Roopkund too but Dodital seems to be the safest option in December. Please let me know if I'm wrong here.
I can't seem to find the best way to reach Uttarkashi from Mumbai. From what I gather the route has to be Mumbai->Delhi->Haridwar->Rishikesh>Uttarkashi.
Now if I get on the Rajdhani and then Dehradhun Janshatabdi from Delhi, I have to spend a night in Delhi, to nullify the probability that the trains could be delayed. There is a train directly from Mumbai to Haridwar, but it is a freaking 40 hrs journey! I could take a night flight to Delhi, and get the morning Janshatabdi. There is also a possibility of going by bus from Delhi, but would really be the last option. Basically, I’m just trying to avoid staying anywhere else before reaching Uttarkashi.

Apart from the above confusion, there are a few other queries.

I'm traveling with a female companion. How safe is the route without a group?
Is the route well marked? DO I need a guide/porter?
Do I need to carry Tent/food for the trek, or is it available on all stops?

Thanks.

hi amul how are you.
amul you can get bus from delhi to haridwar.
janshatabdi time is 3.30pm from delhi that means you will be reaching haridwar around 7.45pm so better you check other option.

and haridwar to uttarkashi will take 8hrs journey

this route is safe with female.
i dont think that you need guide for this trek.
food and tent not required. but better you confirm first.because you are going in dec.

i think it will be better for you take early morning flight from mumbai then travel to haridwar same day . so that next day you can moov to uttarkashi.

Roopkund in December !!!! you are wrong , you can go max upto Bedni, if you want to enjoy snow withput much trekking Dodital is safest option, HKD you can do but take 3 days to reach .

Go for Dodital, ask locals before going there about snow condition, 15 feb is safe you will anyway get snow for sure.

You meant 15 Dec, right? So Dodital it is. I was thinking if HKD because I've 12 days post reaching Delhi. Is there something else I can do along with Dodital, (but not too hectic. I don't want to rush through every place)? Else, i might just spend some time relaxing in Dehradun.

@vikramkyy : Hey vikram. Alls fine.
How much time would the bus take to reach Haridwar? And where is the bus stand from NDLS station?

Thanks.

There is a night train to Haridwar from Nizamuddin Railway station that leaves around 11.00 pm and reaches Haridwar early in teh morning. You could take that train and spend your night on it. The Train No is 2205 and 2205A depending upon your day of travel. There are other overnight trains too, including Mussoorie Express (4041) and Dehradun Express (2687).
For Dodital in December, you will need a guide/porter/cook, and camping equipment. It is mainly off season at the time and you may not find anywhere to sleep or eat if you do venture out on your own, not advisable at all specially keeping in mind that you have a female companion. The mountains are safe for females nothing to worry about there.

Yes either carry them if you have them or rent them at Uttarkashi, you can find guide/porter/cook at Uttarkashi depending upon who you ask to help you and the availability and ofcourse your bargaining power anywhere between 250 - 700 a day plus food. You should ask the hotel where you plan to stay to help you out with it.

Maan! Would have been ok if I was travelling alone. But the "female companion" is not too comfortable.
Hope you understand. No offence meant!

Ya, I've been checking posts on this forum (spl by livinhimalayas)
I mailed snowspidertrekntour for quote list, but haven't recvd any details yet. Tried the mobile no. too but NA.
Someone here said to avoid guide Govind.

Any other recommendations?
Also I'm reaching Haridwar at 4am. Whats the best way to reach Uttarkashi directly, on the same day? Is there a bus service from the station?

If I don't get a guide/porter booking from here, which hotel should i directly head off to once I reach Uttarkashi? Devlok? (Apparently is Good,Clean and 'Budget')
