lalaji,
i've come across your posting more than a month after you put it up. i can see nobody has much to say. i myself have spent a lot of time on the internet trying to get information on this route. while i've come up with nothing substantial, i do have the following:

-the nols summer mountaineering course in india attempts the danu dhura pass every year. if you download their catalog (www.nols.edu), you can read a brief paragraph explaining the route. they attempt it from the pindari side: zero point-kafni col-danu dhura-talla shalang-martoli...etc.
-here is a pic of the high camp at danu dhura: http://www.summitpost.org/view_objec...ct_id=3771 15

that's about all i have on it. i've trekked to talla shalang, the last camp on the shalang gad side before you climb danu dhura. hopefully, some day (not too faraway) i'll manage to cross over and get to phurkia from shalang.

my apologies if you already had all this information.
btw, where did you get that map from?

Hi,

Thx for replying.
The map is from Harish Kapadia's book. Route is given but not attempted by him.
Yes, nols do this trek every year. they are doing this in march-april this year. I have talked to 2 (ex) nols instructor who crossed this pass. This year there are good chances of crossing because of heavy snowfall.
Ascent can be done by taking guide from khati village but descent is tricky, full of crevasses and the local guide have not attempted the descent.
I am planning this trek with the help of these instructor and might do this year or atleast the ascent with the help of local guide.

I wish you all the luck you can possibly have. Have fun, and don't forget to share the fun with us.

I don't think I will ever be brave enough to do this trek.

Well, I am having difficulties in arranging the gear. Specially snow boots.
Is it mandatory to wear snow boots when you have to cross a pass like this one? Any alternatives?
Last year I went till camp 1. Will post some pics tomarrow.

pls post the pics, and if possible, a google earth map. the harish kapadia map is not sufficient.
