Cycling manali-leh... last minute trip

Hey guys,

I just booked a flight to India. I'm flying out in a couple of days and will be traveling to Manali on July 14. When there, I would love to mountain bike from manali to leh.

However, I won't be bringing a bike or equipment and I'm not part of a group either.

How easy is it to do the following: Toss my backpack in some sort of temporary storage, rent/buy a cheap bike+tools, hopefully find a group to ride with, figure out where to stay/eat during the ride and catch a bus back to Manali when done? All this with a budget of $300-$400.

I would think the answer is that it's unlikely, in which case I'll settle for trekking around. If you have any info to the contrary though, I'd appreciate it.

Hi,
Reach Manali and then think of hiring a bike and you can do the trip in around 20 days within you budget.
