dear Imers.. I have always got this doubt consistently often getting incomplete or no information generally.. I desperately wanna know about season when I get clear sky and moderately green slopes in Gharwals.. please give some details regarding the clear sky, lesser or no monsoons (there by less landslides) and there by getting best views at chopta and auli..
thanks and regards..
luv adarsh

Adarsh,I dont think you will get an accurate reply even this time..

There is this saying which the porters keep saying:
"Bombayi ka fashion aur Paahad ka mausam,
Kabhi bhi badal sakta hai.. "

hi dear all I visited kedarnath, tungnath and badrinath in last week of june. The weather in august will be rainy and cloudy and as per my past experience in the hills the views will not be clear. The best views will be between september and november. I was at tungnath on 25th june and did not trek to chandrashila peak as it was cloudy all over and there were no views even from tungnath. But once again it all depends on luck and as jyoti said pahado ke mausam ka koi bharosa nahi. Hills will be green and lush and a treat to eyes in the rains. How are you planning to do this trip vinod? By public transport or by your own vehicle. No need to go through travel agent. Plenty of hotels in all 4 dhams. For tungnath you will have to stay at chopta and then trek to tungnath which is 3.5 kms from chopta. I can give you the hotel neelkanth's contact number in chopta. Take woolen clothes and raingear too if going in august. Need more info then post your queries.
Plan to visit Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila on my way back from Badrinath/Joshimath.
I think the best and neareast route would be Joshimath->Chamoli->Gopeshwar->Chopta.
How easy is it to get transport to travel to Chopta from Joshimath.
I think Joshimath to Chamoli should not be a problem and I could opt between bus and jeep.
How about Chamoli to Chopta?

I have not travelled on this route by the public transport but from other Imers I have heard that there is Bhukh Hadtal bus which takes this route from kedarnath to Badrinath and back. But try to leave as early as possible from Joshimath. The road is excellent till chamoli. Just last 26 km between mandal and chopta was really bad as I had seen in last week of June but the work was on to construct the new road so you can expect something better.

Trek to Deoriatal in December
I am planning to trek to Deoriatal in December with my daughter of 7 years. I just want to give her some flavors of soft treks doing independently. Previously, she had been to Valley of Flowers, but on a porter when she was aged 5 years. She did some small treks say 4-5 Km at Sikkim without help.
Can anybody suggest me whether it is possible for her, or I am taking undue risk?
Will porters be available at Sari at that time, so that I can take one of them as a standby? If so, can you give me any contacts.

Hi Daipayan,I did Deoriatal this January. its nice and easy trek.with well laid path from sari village.in my opinion it will be quite safe and enjoyable trek for your daughter with enough winter clothing.and yes you can take porter from sari village.will try to provide contact deatils by tomorrow if i can find my diary.
I know there's a lot of info out there on the Chopta - Tungnath trek, but here's a photo-travelogue for those still undecided or searching for a (relatively) short but very beautiful trek.
