You can also online order it from www.rei.com.
REI is the largest chain of adventure stores in US. They have almost most of the brands of adventure gear. Check up to buy during their winter sale period also. |

Your best bet is to do a lot of internet research on UK shops' websites, you could even order on the internet and have it delivered to his hotel or some other contact place and save his time, if his trip is going to be short.
One excellent independent resource is www.outdoorsmagic.com, which is an offshoot of an outdoors magazine. In terms of online shops, someone mentioned field and trek, which is good; there is also www.cotswoldoutdoors.com and www.gear-zone.co.uk, I have used all three and recommend them. Someone suggested rei.com, but note that if you have things delivered from the US to UK you will have to pay a lot of taxes! Hope this helps. |
