your quote is quite apt : He that would live in peace and at ease must not speak all he knows or all he sees.

I had read in some books about the scientific reasons behind doing meditation in caves + less oxygen benifits at high altitude:1. due to years of doing meditation & yoga by sadhu-yogi, their body acclimitized to survive at high altitudes with least amount of oxygen
2. then they go in caves for samadhi ( continuous deep meditation of 8~10 days ), now how caves are useful in that, they choose caves of different-different size -shape and of made up of different stones as per the stage they acquired ( seven body chakras)through meditation , now size-shape and material of cave from which it is made up, have there own +/- as some stone absorb some kind of radiation & reflect some kind of radiation & in similar way lot of energy, vibrations etc according to cave type get enter/not enter in to the cave and similarly the energy, vibration which required by that sadhu -yogi for his samadhi will helpful for him
3. thats why we saw the budha stups of round shape, pyramids, caves like ajanta-allora ( which are use for meditation purpose)
4. now during meditation in cave, kind of energy- vibration generated and due to the narrow confined region of cave this vibration-energy reflect back from the inner walls of cave and make close circle arround the sadhu-muni and that helps for samadhi
5. now how less oxygen level helps them as during continous meditation which last for 8~10 or more days during that time they not eat or drink (pl. don't ask me how they survive with out food & water for such long time, i have no experince of that, might be due to their yogic power) so their body not need much of oxygen also during samadhi they almost stop breathing so here also low level of oxygen helps them to acquire samadhi
6. some time they do meditation in the cave in groups and block the opening of cave by mud so the energy -vibration not escape from there and that can be use for further moving to another stage of meditation
7. also in long length caves there is no sunlight entry so the sadhu-muni cut off from the out side world and cut off from the time frame cycle of day-night so it will helpful them to attain timelessness mind frame (that what samadhi is)
so this way this caves & Himalaya help them to reach the ultimate state of life

Hmmmm ... I am hardly superstitious; but, often when nearing a final ridge-top or some such other Himalayan Goal, an inner voice (thought, really) urges me not to go any further
.... "You are already So-Happy to have come thus far and enjoyed everything, why want more?" seems to be the message. More often than not, have turned homeward from there. @Rajkumar; great & insightful posts at #83, #112 & #120 in this thread

dear Basant, perhaps you have posted your post in wrong thread, it would be much better if you start a new thread or post your request in thread related with your query... the nature of this thread is something else...

In my first trip to Kedarnath, I saw a Sadhu wearing only one langothi (Underwear) and nothing else. He was quite friendly with me and told me to give him a bag made up of cloth. After few chat, I curiously asked him, how he manages to keep himself warm in this cold condition without wearing anything. He, on the contrary, asked me, " You have covered yourself with so many garments right from head to toe. But did you cover your face? He continued, your face is acclimatized , because you kept it open since your childhood. Like, we acclimatized our entire body."

it is not just acclimatization that the sadhus are able to live, it is also their Sadhna/ Hatyog that have have been doing for years... their whole body process/activities becomes slow...

THERE IS LOT TO KNOW AND IT MAY BE FROM ANYBODY !!RECENTLY I CAME ACROSS A PHRASE BUT I CANNOT REMEMBER WHERE
"MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP"
The writing made quite meaningful to me.
Thanks anyway.
If we don't speak (here the meaning is post) then from where we will get the idea to venture a new spot, about new people. I always want to share idea with others. That's why I said, (Is it applicable in Forum).

I think that many people think that what they know, if kept secret, then nobody will come to know about it. But in this age of net and computers nothing is unconqoured. So let people feel boasty and we would let people know whatever little we know.
