Back from Roopkund-Homkund-Ronti Saddle
Hi All,
We completed the trek to Roopkund-Homkund-Ronti Saddle and returned back to civilization on 14th June. We were the first group to cross Junargali pass this season. I am pasting below the mail sent by my trekking partner Shilpa on himlaya_trekkers.
Shilpa's mail follows.......
Hello Everyone,
Six of us went for the trek to Roopkund starting from Loharjung on the 6th of June.
The plan was to reach Roopkund, then cross over the Junargali pass to Shila Samudra.
From there go to Homekund, climb upto Ronti Saddle and get back to Ghat via Sutol/Sitel.
Five of us (JP, Sandeep, Ajay, Dr Rajeev and I) managed to successfully cross over Junargali pass and three (JP, Sandeep and I) did the Homekund / Ronti Saddle as well.
The entire trek was exciting, exhilirating and tough but we were lucky as we got good weather when it mattered. The views of Nandaghunti and Trishul ranges on the way are out of this world.
I believe we are the first team to cross Junargali pass and reach Ronti saddle for this season.
I have posted some pictures for this trek here.

I will post a short writeup on the trek and also update my blog
http://himalayan-magpie.blogspot. com with the detailed travelogue soon.
We parted at Karnprayag post this trek and JP went back to Chamoli. He was planning to continue trekking to Kalpeshwar/Rudranath for this week. More on that when he is back.
Regards,
- shilpa
