My friend and I plan to go from Auli to Lohajung crossing the Kuari pass and also visiting Roop Kund in end-Sept to early Oct this year. I had a few queries:

1. Is carrying a tent necessary? Or do the villages on the way have some manner of accommodation?

2. Is a guide required for the trek?

3. Would it be possible to find basic supplies in some of the villages along the way?

4. The entire area of this trek is outside the Inner line, but are there any other permits that need to be obtained from Joshimath?

Thanks!!!

Yup tent is necessary...you can't find home stays throughout the route...

2. Is a guide required for the trek?

better to take one....

3. Would it be possible to find basic supplies in some of the villages along the way?

you will find some basic supplies but still you have to carry ration for 2/3 days...

4. The entire area of this trek is outside the Inner line, but are there any other permits that need to be obtained from Joshimath?

As stated by seaface ...but for bedni you have to pay after reaching lohajung I guess...or your guide can pay it at bedni itself...

Thanks!!!
happy trekking...
