Anyone interested in Stok Kangri or Lungser kangri or both?

I am looking for some partners to join Stok Kangri or Lungser kangri or even both. Both will be done one after the other. So if anyone is interested in only doing Stok kangri, do please let me know. Or if anyone is interested in doing Lungser kangri, do please contact me.

I will confirm the dates hopefully by tomorrow but most probably it will be 9th July. I will also post the itinerary soon.

After this trek, I will return back to Leh, rest for one day and then start Lungser Kangri trek the very next day.

Even after doing Lungser kangri and coming back to Leh and depending how i am feeling, I might also do Nubra Valley trekking. So if anyone wants to join me for Nubra trekking, all will be appreciated.

At this time, I am trying to arrange the trip with an agent or tour operator. Main thing is I want to go in a small group of 4 or 5 since it will cost too much on going alone. But that is a last resort. On arrival in Leh, i would find out any information on any organized groups set to go in a day or two which is usually advertised outside various tour agencies.

Are there any other sites other than India hikes that organize treks for small group of people? I want to start Stok kangri trek on 9th July.

Is Nubra valley easily accesible from Leh or Korzok? I think the Lungser Kangri trek starts near Rumtse (3 hrs drver from leh) and ends near Korzok.

Coduld also anyone suggest any good climbing peaks in Nubra valley?

My complete itinerary would be something like this. I plan on doing Stok kangri according to below dates.

5th July – 8th July – Stay in Leh. Sightseeing.
9th July – 17th July – Leh - Stok kangri - Leh
18th July – 29th July – Leh - Lungser kangri - Leh
30th July – Leh
31st July onwards Nubra valley trek/cycling/Sahib Chasa or any other 6000m+ peak in Nubra Valley
17th August: Back to Delhi

After 31st July, depending on how I am feeling I might return back to Delhi via Manali or continue Nubra Valley trekking.

Detailed itinerary for Stok kangri (8 nights 9 days) but could change slightly during trek. I usually take longer to acclimatize. I want to enjoy the experience and not do it in a rush. For 2 people, it will cost $75/day. For 3 people $60/day and for 4, cost is $50/day.

1. Leh to Rumbak
2. Rumbak to Stok La Base camp
3. Stok La Base camp to Mankarmo
4. Mankarmo to Base camp
5. Acclimatize Day – Golap peak climb (optional)
6. Acclimatize Day
7. Acclimatize Day/ Base camp to Advanced base camp
8. Summit Day
9. back to Leh

if anyone interested in Lungsr Kangri, i will get back on final detailed itinerary soon. Is 11 days more than enough just to climb Lungser kangri?

In addtion, is it a good idea to visit Panggong lake and Khardungla Pass on the 7th and 8th July respectively. I am planning this for additional acclimatization.

You will also have to pay for permits to the Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF) in order to climb those peaks. They colect several thousand from each climber, then keep personnel up there to make sure all climbers have the permits. They do not provide any services, though, for example they clean the base camp of Stok Kangri once a year at the end of the season at most, and they do not provide any medical aid or oxygen up there at the base camp.

You can get the mountaineering permits in Leh, no need to do it ahead of time.

hi abishek

i am interested in ur plan. and i want to do both these mountains. i have done a lot of research according to which if u have done stok kangri first leh-lungser kangri-leh will take max 6 days. i will recheck it to be sure. imf doesn't charge much fee and most people tak etrekking permit to base camps only and climb for free. apart from that for a indian citizen there is no fee at all. this needs confirmation though, i read it somewhere. i will rent equipment from imf if u will confirm the plan. please tell me in detail the kind of services u have arranged for, regarding guide, food, porter and any hidden costs.

when would you be arriving in Leh? Have you arranged where you be staying at? I will be arriving 5th July. I have booked all my flights.

I have been quoted Rs.38400 for Stok kangri. This cost is just for one person which includes peak fee, horses, guide, food 4 times daily, climbing equipments, tents, mattress, camping fee, wildlife fee and transportation for pickup and drop.

Cost excludes personal gear, sleeping bag, trekking shoes, insurance and hotel stay at Leh. Is Rs.38400 too high for this trip or reasonable taking into account that the cost is for single person? One other rip off tour operator quoted me over Rs.72000 excluding peaks fees plus guide fees at Rs.2000/day.

I have set 12 days for Lungser kangri to get properly acclimatized. I just do not want to risk doing it in 6 days.

Day 1: Drive Leh to tsomoriri Paldo 240km
Day 2: Rest at Tsomoriri Lake for acclimatize O/N Camp
Day 3: Paldo to Rungiado phu 4850m
Day 4: Rungiado to base camp 5550m
Day 5: Acclimatize Day
Day 6: Base camp to advanced base camp
Day 7: Acclimatize Day
Day 8: Reserve day subject to weather
Day 9: Summit day subject to weather and back to advanced base camp
Day 10: Base camp to Rungiado
Day 11: Rungiado to Plado
Day 12: Drive Paldo to Leh drive transfer to Hotel 240km

Are these permits or peak fees only applied to foreigners or also to Indian nationals?
