Hi,

Does anyone have any experience and/or information on Animal Pass (sic)? I can't find anything more than passing references here on India Mike or via a wider search with Google. I believe it crosses between the Tos valley and the Malana valley in the mountains North of Manikaran and East of Manali in Himachal Pradesh.

I'm wondering whether its trekable, or is a full on mountaineering route? I found a reference on the above14000ft blog (May 2009) which suggests that it is occasionally used by the Gaddi, which sounds promising. However, it clearly drops onto the Malana glacier in the East, which looks challenging, and the only trek notes I can find suggest that most people ascend to the Pass from the Tos valley, then go back the same way rather than crossing over.

I am interested in the entire circumnavigation (Tos valley to Malana valley), or combining it with the Sara Umga La.

I've been trying to find exactly the same info for days now. Has anyone got no information here on the circumnavigation route as discussed above?

Thanks a ton Manzey!

Just because I couldn't find any info on the web or indiamike, the curiosity to do this trek has increased manifold.

It will be of great help if you can PM me his email ID and hopefully he can answer the few queries I still have.

Thanks.
