5-7 days budget trek

hi all
I am just a beginner and planning of my first trek.please suggest me a good 5-7 days trek.the budget here is really important as i am a student and i cant afford more than 3.5 - 4 k on the trek..please suggest a budget trek and how to cut down on costs during the trek.

secondly i have looked through the teahouse treks, is it safe to rely on the accommodation available or sleeping bags, tents are required?
if yes, then please suggest places to get it for cheap from delhi.

of the teahouse treks i have been unable to gather any info for teahouse treks in the manali area as mentioned by avidtrekker in one of the threads..can somebody suggest some possible routes in this area and ways to go about it

and which teahouse trek wud u suggest otherwise(not in manali area)..according to budget and safety

i m from delhi btw and am free till august for the trek.
i wud be having just 1 partner with me for the trek

The Youth Hostel Association of India arranges treks in your price range which are ideal for a first trek, and I seem to recall that they provide everything you need. I'm sure that there will be other suggestions as well.

Good luck arranging something suitable, and have a wonderful time!

Hi pyramid,

I can suggest you to travel to Amarnath. It would be quite cheap as you will get free fooding and lodging enroute arranged by the Seva Samitis.

But there will be a great rush because Amarnath is open for just 55 days. So, you can try Gomukh. I hope you can cut your budget within 5k.

regards

From Delhi you can do many treks in 3.5K. As a first timer you can do Valley of Flowers. On this trek staying at the gurudwara can cut down the costs. The Tea-houses give decent stuff, but it is preferable to carry your own sleeping bag due to hygene reasons.

FRH can not be relied upon during this season.
It depends on how many of you are going for the trek. If you are going alone then there is no point hiring a tent, it will be too heavy too carry by yourself. There are a few dhabas at Dodital where you can stay for the night. They will cost something around a Rs 100, and accommodating a single person will never be a problem.
If you hire a tent it will cost you around Rs 200 per day. I think hiring tent is an overkill for solo trekkers because this is a perfect Teahouse trek.
On the first day you should travel from Rishikesh to Uttarkashi and onwards to Sangamchatti. Then trek 7 kms to reach Agoda and stay for the night.
