I am a single woman traveling solo to India from Canada. I am leaving in two weeks and will be staying in Anand Prakash Ashram in Rishikesh (for my advanced yoga teacher training). I am then flying south to Kerela (for a backwaters tour). While I am in Southern India, I would like to go to Tamil Nadu and see the Vivekananda rock memorial. Is it worth seeing? can anyone recommend the Vivekananda ashram? There were no photos on the webpage so I am a little unsure of what to expect (although in india I guess you should come to expect the unexpected!)Any other recommendations of where to go, or what to see while in Tamil Nadu?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Steph..its great to see you are into advance yoga..I'm into basic yoga only..however just a suggestion of some places you might like..Rishikesh is a good place and you'll enjoy it.Another good place to visit is the Matri mandir in Auroville pondicherry..its a great place to relax and meditate..only problem is they have some visiting time and all that stuff..
By the way on Kanyakumari..there isn't much to do there except visit the ashram and vivekananda rock..somehow I didn't have a great experience..I enjoyed Kovalam and Varkala beaches a lot..which is I about and hour or two from there..
Have fun
