Vellore or Tiruvannamalai

Hi,

I am on a lsisure biking to Pondicheery next weekend. Bangalore to P'cherry in one day may be a long travel. So, I plan to go via Vellore or Tiruvannamali.

Any recommendation on whcih place to stay? How is the goldeb temple in vellore? Would you prefer it over Tiruvannamalai?

Personally to me the golden temple at vellore looks very artificial and anyday i prefer tiruvanamalai.

our family is planning for a road trip from bangalore to tiruvannamalai next week. Does any one know whats the latest and greatest on the road quality from krishnagiri to tiruvannamalai?

I had heard lot of negative comments about the road quality until 4 months back.

Any one who ventured on this route recently? Pls post back.

We are planning to drive down by car.

If this road is still worse, i googled map to see a alternate (100+km extra) route from vellore (blr-krishgiri-vellore-tiruvanaḿalai)

I travelled on the route a week back, and the road quality isn't that great, which is anyway the case with any TN road. It's not terrible either. If your car's got good enough suspension, there's no need to take the longer route, IMO.

tiruvannamalai is best. The Golden temple at Vellore is nothing but a exhibition piece and not a temple in true sense.
