Post Trip to Ooty - May 3 n 4

Hey folks,

I am new to India Mike! A big hello to each of you!!

We are planning a trip to Ooty between May 3 and 4. There will be eight of us travelling from Bangalore.

What is the best way to travel and where can we stay in ooty?

Hello and welcome

Can't help thinking you should have been asking this question a couple of months ago --- but I hope someone will be along with more positive advice!

Hello Rachel
Renting a vehicle such as a Tempo traveller, with driver, would be the most comfortable and convenient for 8 people. You can see Mysore and also visit Bandipur or Mudumalai sanctuaries en route if you time it right.

May in Ooty is peak season so expect a lot of traffic on this route, as well as peak season rates in hotels. Hotel Tamil Nadu is reasonably priced and best located in a quiet area on a small hillock, yet just minutes away from the main Charring Cross / Commercial ST. area. Check availability and book online at tamilnadutourism.org or ttdconline.com

http://nilgiris.nic.in/ has a comprehensive list of hotels in Ooty at all budget ranges; as well as general tourist information about the region.

Hope this helps at such short notice, and enjoy your trip.

Many thanks Synonymous for the info!!

We were thinking of a Tempo Traveller too and we wanted to stay at Destiny - it is a LittleEarth property.. the activities there seemed quite interesting and would be a good learning for the team!!

But being the peak season it is full!!

Planning is not what this team likes to do.. we have always had ad-hoc trips and touchwood real adventorous and fun ones!!!

I am sure this one will turn out to be a similar one!!! )

Destiny Farms is near my favourite destination on earth - Avalanchi. We spend 10 days in Avalanchi every January - the height of off-season and wander in the shola forests and surroundings. I think it is over priced but there is another one like Destiny there, called Red Hills or something like that. You can try booking the Forest Rest Houses but I imagine they will also be full. Im sure you will get something. Enjoy your holiday.
