I advice you to stay at palani. Day 1: Start earliest possible from Bangalore. Stop at Namakkal; visit hanuman temple. After lunch continue to Madurai. Overnight stay at Madurai. - As per my understanding the distance covered on this day would be around 450 KM right ? Bangalore to nammakal is around 260 kms and it might around 6 hours of journey in alto. The temple at nammakal will close around 12 noon and will reopen again around 3.30 pm, if you want to reach nammakal by 11.15 am you have to leave bangalore by 5.00 am with half an hour break at dharmapuri for breakfast.. The distance from nammakal to madurai is around 190 kms and this might take around 4 1/2 hours of journey and if you leave nammakal around 1.30 pm you can reach madurai by 6 pm. If you reach nammakal at 3.30 pm and leave around 4.30 pm you might probably reach madurai around 9.30 pm. The total distance from Bangalore - Krishnagiri (95) - Dharmapuri (150) - Salem (210) - Namakkal (265) - Karur (320) - Dindigul (390) - Madurai (450): entirely on NH 7 - Please suggest some GOOD BUDGET hotels in Madurai. - Could anyone give the review of TTDC Madurai Hotels !!. There are two hotels here TTDC Madurai Hotel I and II. Which one is good. - Approximately what time it would be in the evening/night we would be able to reach Madurai. - How is the road (NH7) Hotel supreme is a good one and hotel rathna palace is also a good budget hotel and you have plenty of hotels in West Perumal Maistry Street. Please google for the tariff. I have stayed in TTDC long back and i am not happy with it but many of the senior members are saying their are worth their money. The road are very good upto salem and 2 or 3 bridges are going around near karur and other towns but overall good roads. Day 2: Visit Meenakshi temple; have early lunch and leave for Kanyakumari. Overnight stay at Kanyakumari. - Are there any specific timings when the temple is open. - As per my understanding the distance covered on this day would be around 250 KM right ? - How the road - What time we may be able to reach Kanyakumari if we plan to leave Madurai by max 1 PM - Please suggest some GOOD BUDGET hotels in Kanyakumari. I advice you to visit meenakshi temple and tirupurkondram temple and leave madurai after lunch. The distance is around 240 kms roughly and it might take around 5 hours and you might reach kanyakumari around 6 pm. The road are good again. I have stayed in hotel shivamurughan and i would definately reccommend it and other hotels are manickam and ttdc which is bang in front of the beach. Vivekananda ashram is again very good. Day 3: Go around Kanyakumari. Overnight stay at Kanyakumari. - Please suggest the place which should not be missed. Day 4: Kanyakumari – Coimbatore. On the way stop at Tirunelveli for the famous sweet . Overnight stay at Coimbatore. - How is the road. - What time we may be able to reach Coimbatore if we plan to leave Kanyakumari by max 10 AM - What are the place we can visit on the way and nearby. - Please suggest some GOOD BUDGET hotels in Coimbatore. As i earlier pointed out why do you want to visit coimbatore? you can reach palani, visit the temple and return to bangalore the next day via mettur. The distance from kanyakumari to palani is around 360 kms and journey time will be around 8 hours. The distance from palani to bangalore is around 360 kms and the journey will take around 8 hours Day 5: palani - Bangalore |

I recommend you to stay at Vivekanada Ashram in Kanyakumari. Last month I had stayed there only. Itz homely atmosphere with all sort of facilities.
By the by being at Ashram one can have look at sunrise I heard so. (with little walk around) But unforutnately we could not have glimpse of the same due to cloudy weather on that particular day. Have a good time! Jay : |

Rashmi,
We stayed at the TTDC - I hotel which is walking distance from the Meenakshi Amman Koil. We found it to be great value for money, spacious and safe. Staff were helpful and courteous. The food was not tasty, but there are plenty of better eating places close by. The rooms are of course somewhat tired, but not dirty. It is a good idea to tip the houseboy to clean it again after you check in. TTDC Hotel Tamil Nadu Madurai-1 West veli street, Madurai. Tel: 0452-2337471 to 75 Fax 2331945. Meenakshi temple timings: http://www.maduraimeenakshi.org/ The sanctum is open from: 0500 - 1230 1600 - 2200 Between 1230 & 1600 they also permit visitors in for photography and general sightseeing for a small fee. TTDC has hotels in most of the other places you intend visiting so you can also consider them if you want. You will get an additional discount if you stay more than 3 days - total 3 days at any combination of properties, it does not have to be at the same place.

Hi Rashmi,
If you have some time ( half a day ) you may try visiting Kutalam Falls on way back from Kanyakumari. You would need to touch Tirunelveli on your return and Kutralam is about 1 hour drive. In case you plan to go, check at Triunelveli if the season is on at Kutralam and then proceed. http://www.bloggersbase.com/articles...utralam-falls/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPmeYtAFu80 http://images.google.co.in/images?hl...tle&re snum=4 Best Wishes, Raghu Quote:

Hi Rashmi,
The link mentioned by Arun is pasted below. kumbakonam to kunniyakumari by bus, train?? The below link would help you to arrive at the shortest distances between two destinations by just click of a mouse and the distance would appear on the top left side. However this would be the shortest distance and hence you may need to add 15 % more for actual travel. http://www.travelindia-guide.com/rou...u_roadmap.html Hope this helps. Raghu Quote:

Yes the URL I found infact was the right one for Vivekananda Ashram. Just that the accomodation link running at top of the page was missed out by me
Have sent them a mail regarding my few queries about accomodation. Hopefully i get a reply soon. |
