Travel from Madurai to Pondicherry

Following is my 3days plan to travel from Madurai to Mamalapuram. Can you advice me.

madurai -> pillaiyarpatti -> tanjavur -> kumbakonam. Overnight at kumbakonam.

I could not understand your post properly.
Are you going to cover all these temples on day 1? impossible.
Give us the places you want to visit from 3rd to 10th oct and probably we will try to give you a plan.

Hi Kumar,

It's 8days 7night tour from Trichy by car and 2 travellars. Navagraha temples are must visited and other temples are optionals. So from Trichy to Pondicheery would like to have good travel plan.

Day 1 Trichy -> Madurai
Day 2 Madurai -> Pillaiyarpatti -> Tanjavur -> Kumbakonam
Day 3 Kumbakonam -> Vaillangai -> Chidambaram -> Pondicherry
Day 4 Pondicherry -> mamalapuram -> Chennai
Day 5 Chennai -> Kalahasti -> Tirupathy
Day 6 Tirupathy -> vellore -> Kanchipuram
Day 7 Kanchipuram -> Tiruvannamalai -> Srirangam -> Trichy
Day 8 Trichy

It would not be possible to visit all the temples listed in a day. The temples are closed in the afternoons.

Can anyone of you help me to make realistic plan from Madurai to Pondicherry covering all those temples listed in the 1st posting ?

In my opinion, you have too many temples. What do you plan to do, just drive past, and wave?

I am assuming you want darshan. On day 1, Madurai and Tiruparankundram could be done in the AM. Remember, the darshan line may be up to an hour long, and you may wish to wander about a bit. So you could do the Meenakshi temple at 5 AM until about 8, then drive out to the rock cut temple (it is a half hour drive out to Tiruparankundram) Most likely, assuming there is no festival, you could take darshan there within a half an hour. Then you would have to drive for at least 2 hours probably more to get to Pillaiyarpatti before noon to get darshan there.

I am just trying to demonstrate how unrealistic your itinerary is. Note that I have you starting at 5 AM and skipping the Palace. For that afternoon, betwen 4 and 9, you have 9 more temples listed. My suggestion would be to rethink your priorities.

I think you have to skip tirupati, chennai, mahamallapuram and kalahasti, the eternay will cover the places posted in post 1.
I would have assumed that the taxi is already pre booked.
Oct 3 = Arrival at airport around 2.30 pm,
Take the taxi and straight away head to srirangam temple and proceed to tanjur, visit the temple, stay at tanjur.
Oct 4 = Visit some of the navagraha temples and stay at kumbakonam.
Oct 5 = Visit some of the navagraha temples and proceed to pondi.
Oct 6 = Pondi.
Oct 7 = Pondi to velangini
Oct 8 = Velangini to madurai.
Oct 9 = madurai
Oct 10 = back to tiruchi.
Probably this is one of the alternatives which might be of interest to you,
