Tranquebar

Hi,

Not many are aware of this picturous little place - tranquebar / tharangambadi located a short distance away from Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu... this used to be a Dutch trading colony in the 16th century ... the sea water boasts of the second highest ozone levels in the world and its beautiful to see how the water changes it's color during the day... most of the buildings in the area date back to that era and are in full occupation today!!! there is a small Danish Fort that has been converted into a museum...there is also a beautiful heritage hotel (Bungalow on the Beach) on the beach.. which with it's french cuisine and local fish preparations add to the overall experience

Wow. The third picture I wouldn't mind having a mean vegetarian dosa and a large Cobra beer while watching the water.

Looks pretty nice, but where are the trees?

Must get a pretty mean burn hanging outside too long!

what is interesting is that the French, the Danes, the Dutch, the Portugues and British were all in India at the same time during the early days of colonial conquest
