Tired and exhausted - need rejuvenation Trichy -Pondy -Chennai
I am 50 year old woman living in remote Australia (still waiting for lonely planet guide to arrive).
I have put together my 12 day trip after reading all your replies. Trichy 1 and half days (Guru Hotel)by bus to Pondy 3 days (Aurobindo Ashram)by bus to Chennai 4 days I am travelling alone and hope that there are buses available. 1. Chennai - can you please let know a good budget ayurvedic hospital (for a day stay or more) where they give you like oil massage / treatment (I am so tensed and need to learn to relax). Please please if you know of a decent hospital or a budget clean retreat do let me know. 2. Chennai - I would like to stay in a hotel in a area where I can walk to the shops / restaurants from hotel and like a bit of hustle and bustle. Which area should I pick for hotel? About A$25 hotel recommendation would be appreciated. Thanks Kind regards Maya |

bump and Maya, welcome to indiamike.
Till somebody comes along with specifics If you search the forum, may threads on Pondicherry- and a forum on Chennai. Also the hotel section. Except for the heat, you might find Pondicherry relaxing. Or Mammalapuram, though it is not on your list.

Hello Maya, Welcome to IM
For hotel in Chennai, you could try Sangeetha Residency in Mylapore. Its more than a buget hotel. You should be able to book a room for about Rs 1,500/- (A$35), so slightly over your budget. And don't worry about the hustle and bustle. It will come looking for you, no matter where you are. Hope you enjoy your time in India. |

Mylapore is a wonderful area to stay, where you will have a taste of Indian city life that has not been too modernised!
As for an ayurvedic place, I don't know, I'm afraid. |
