Mudurai is magnificent. And it's all many years since I went but Mamallapuram was beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed Mysore too. I guess it's all down to how far you want to travel and what you want to see.

Thanks for the reply. I guess after looking at the map I quite fancy going up as far as Puri on the East coast - so that's quite a distance after all - from South to Mid India.
I wanted to know if there was a way to plan a trip up to Puri via various destinations - taking 3 weeks to get there then - spend say 3/4 nights in Puri and fly back to Cochin spend 2/3 nights there before flying back? Any sugestions? |

I would skip Puri and go to Konark.
Don't forget the hill stations: Munnar/Ooty/Yerkaud/Kodaikkanal/Coorg - all in the South. Chennai is not worth it, in my opinion, unless you're coming in December, for the music festival..or to buy silks. What about Kanyakumari? The meeting of 3 oceans and all that...(haven't been there, though) Then there is Goa, of course ![]() Also, back in Kerala - Aleppey and Munar. If you want beaches...Kovalam, maybe, near Trivandrum. |

In south India, along with other places that are mentioned above, consider visiting Coorg and Hampi.

The Backwaters
Before you leave from Cochin, spend a day or two on a boat in the backwaters. Very relaxing.
Cochin is definately worth a few days as well. Lots of interesting shopping in the Fort Cochin area, that's if you or your aunty and mom like that sort of thing. When I was there a few years ago I wished I had been with some of my female relatives...who would have enjoyed rummaging in antique stores (poor husband was bored)Have a great trip Last edited by SitaParityaga : Sep 24th, 2006 at 22:54. |
