If anyone in Vellore wants to share a taxi to Chennai on Dec 21 (am or early afternoon) let me know by Monday night. I have too much baggage for a train or bus...

There will be lots of railway porters very willing to make sure you don't have to carry a thing either end.
I hate fighting these guys off when I don't need them, but when I do I rekon they earn their money. Unlike the airport guys who just load you stuff on a trolley and push it, just as you could have done.
Afterthought... At least at the Chennai end there will be.

taxi sharing
Just for the sake of luggage you don't need to hire a taxi all the way from Vellore to Chennai,i suppose.
Ask your hotel people to load on to auto or a taxi up to the bus stand.
Hire a taxi at Chennai. Surely such costs will be much less than hiring a taxi all the way from Vellore to Chennai.
Also remember that taxi will cahrge to you return (Chennai to vellore)fare also!!
