Ooty in Dec 2009

Hi,

I will be travelling to ooty from dec 26th 2009 to 29th Dec 2009 with my family. We are total 5 persons. I need a good hotel to stay. Please suggest some good hotel with the budget from 2000-3000 per day. Also I prefer homely food and the location of the hotel should be good(having some good views).

Are there any cotteges or independent rooms available.

Please let me know ASAP.

You could consider the Hotel Tamil Nadu run by TTDC, the rooms are large and clean, rates are modest and the location is very convenient just off Charring Cross but very quiet, being on a small hillock. From some rooms you get a bit of a view. The food was not tasty whenever we have stayed there but there is a huge variety of eating places within 5 min walk, to suit all tastes and budgets. You will get the discounted off season rate but since it is in the school holiday period, its better if you book in advance.

although we are planning to go to in the same month we may reach ooty by 29th....on the return we are planning to stop at coonor what are the places to see at coonor?? how far is the distance to coimbatore from cooner?? how about the transport facility did d buses available frequently??

Nextly, I am planing to take 2s tickets in ooty train...is there any difference between FC & 2S?? Howz is the view from inside the train in 2s coach??

in coonoor you can see

lambs rock - veiw point
dolphins nose view point
2 places last mentioned is a nice drive.
you can check out the high field tea factory ( can lookfor yourself the tea manufacturing process)
then there is a good tea lounge
called the Tranlqualitea

go for the 1s better for you in terms of you dont have to stand the the q. other wise nothing much as better view options\

Dude, we booked our tickets by 29th we reach ooty by train we are returning back on 2nd Jan, 2010 from coimbatore...Can I have the best plan to visit the sight seeings at ooty in these days including Coonor.

you can try EMS hotel or GV Lodge both are is 5 mins from the bus stand and 10 mins from the rail head.
bot are pretty clean and reasonable i guess.

for ooty you can check out hotel durga or silver oak hotel even pon mari residency is pretty good for the tariff which is a no nonsense clean hotel accessible from charring cross

Can I get the Taxee for Sightseeing in ooty?? as well as to Cooner?? How much is the fare do you have any idea?? although we are spending 3days

Day2: Cooner
Day3: Are there any other places apart from the above which u can suggest??

Nextly, Did the buses to Coimbatore from ooty are running frequently?? how much time is the journey??

Hi sidhu u can check out 4 manjur.35kms from ooty. u have 2 take permission from district forest office.the forest guard and his wife cook nice food which are priceless. this guest house is in tip off the hill with an breathtakin viewpoint. also there is a dam down the hill the accomodation is very cheap and only challenge would be permission for the guest house

Right now there is extensive rain caused havoc in the Nilgiris with the Mettupalaym Coonoor road, the Mettupalayam Kotagiri road and the train tracks damaged. The train services are suspended. Hope it is okay by the time you want to go there.
