Navagragha Temples and temples around Kumbakonam

I am planning to visit temples around Kumbakonam (mainly Navagraha temples) with elderly parents and a 2years old child ( 5 people total)

Day 1:
Reach Mayavaram from Blore by , MAYILADUTURAI EXP at 7AM
Check in at Hotel Palms & Leave the Hotel around 9 AM
Book the Innova for 2 day trip from the hotel(Rs.2800/- day)

A.Morning
Vaitheeswarn Koil (Angarahan)
Chidambaram

B. Evening
Thiruvenkadu (Bhudhan)
Tirunallar (Sani)
Kilaperumpallam (Kethu)

Overnight at Mayavaram

Day2:
Check out of Hotel at Mayavaram at about 7:30AM

A.Morning :
Kanjanur (Sukran)
Suryanaar Koil (Suryan)
Tirunageswarm (Ragu)

B.Evening

Alangudi (Guru)
swamimalai
Chandran

Check in at a hotel at KasiInternational,Kumbhakonam


Day 3:

Morning :visit local temples at Kumbhakonam

Check out of the hotel & board the train to Blore at 6:25 PM

Hi,

Please go through this itinerary. If you want to have darshan and leave then follow this of if you want to perform Pooja everywhere means, it will take some time.

Day 1: Morning 9am leave the hotel and reach Vaitheeswaran Kovil. After finishing Darshan, you can go to Thiruvenkadu which is 1/2 hr drive from Vaitheeswaran Kovil.

After Thiruvenkadu, go to Keelaperumballam which is hardly 15 mts drive from Thiruvenkadu.

After Keelaperumballam, drive straight to Thirukkadaiyur for lunch as you cannot have good hotels enroute. Hotel Sadabhishekam at Thirukkadaiyur is good. You can take rest at Thirukkadaiyur and by 4pm the temple will open for darshan.

After finishing darshan, leave for Thirunallar (via Karaikal).

From Thirunallar take Kumbakonam Route in which you can visit Thirunageswaram & Uppiliappan Temple and reach Kumbakonam and stay.

Day -2 : Morning visit SuryanarKovil, Kanjanur, Tiruvidaimarudur, Thirupuvanam and reach Kumbakonam for lunch. Evening visit Thingalur and Swamimalai and back to Kumbakonam. If time permits visit some local temple at Kumbakonam in the evening.

Day -3 : Leave for Alangudi and enroute visit Valangaiman Mariamman Temple. Rest at your leisure.

I am herewith attaching the Temple opening timings which are provided by Mr. Prasad to me during my trip.

For Day 1: We will be reaching Mayavaram in the morning &
was thinking off, checking in a hotel to get refreshed & in the evening come back to the same hotel at Mayavaram.Are you suggesting we go to Kumbakonam instead or it is just a typo

The rest looks good to me & i will do the remaining Kumbhakonam local temple trips some other time.

My suggestion would be make Kumbakonam your base.

I suggested you to reach Kumbakonam at the end of Day 1 as I don't want you to travel on the same route again. Also don't forget to take a vehicle which is having both Tamilnadu and Pondicherry permit as you have to go to Thirunallar, Pondicherry permit is must.

I have made Kumbhakonam as base now & planning to follow the route suggested by Balaji.

Do you have any contact # for the cab rental (reliable) at Kumbhakonam?
Also, how much should i typically pay for Innova or Tavera?
Is it generally done on a Km basis or daily basis or on a complete package basis?

Do you recommend any good Veg restaurant in Kumbhakonam?

Most of the Navgraha operators work on complete package basis.

You can call this agency and enquire about the rates, etc.

I don't have idea regarding Car Rental or Rates.

As for as the Vegetarian Restaurant is concerned, you can try out Venkatramana Cafe which is very old and good. It is near Gandhi Park in TSR Big Street.

Darasuram is a unesco heritage Temple and less than 30 mins drive from Kumbakonam.Don't miss it.
