My South (East) India Travel

Hi Everyone
This is the first time for me on this forum, i have read all day so i decided to register since im going back to India in February and could use the extra help. To much i missed out on when i where in India two years ago:/
Its my first time going to south east India, ive only been in the north and to Goa...
What can you recommend? My girlfriend is gonna study for 3 months in Pondicherry and i need something to do while she is there Dont wanna sit and do nothing, please give me some advice on daytrips, weektrips etc
Maby some treks to?! i LOVE beautiful landscapes hehe
Ive written down some cities and temples, but its just some random ones!
Cant wait to go back!

Mathias, welcome.

That list of yours will be an excellent start of an itinerary, because thats what you are interested in.

From Pondicherry, logical short trips would be Chennai/Mammalapuram.

The list will be endless for longer trips. Rameshwaram, Kerala, Hampi/Goa would be a good start, I think.

Since you'll be there in the hot season I would recommend trips to Kodaikanal which at 2340 metres will be much cooler and has many beautiful walks in the area.

Further away is the Indira Gandhi National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary in the Anaimalai Hills which has trekking possibilities in unspoilt forest.
