Music Festivals in Southern India in Jan. 2012

I love music to hear,to play and to feel. please tell me about any festivals you may know of coming up in Jan. in Southern India. Indian classic is good. thanks

Please search this site (and google generally) for the Chennai Music and Dance Season, which is happening right now. Although it scales down a lot at the end of this month, stuff will be happening into January (and beyond: it never stops altogether here).

Also search for the Mahabalipuram dance festival.

Music season is best experienced in Chennai from 15th Dec to 15th Jan. There are hundreds of sabhas (institutions) which organize this. Just google for chennai music season.

Google will be a very good friend.
Also, The Hindu, a renowned National newspaper headquartered in Chennai dedicates much space to the Chennai Music & Dance festival. Their website, www.thehindu.com, might provide you what you may look for - venues, show-times, reviews and the insight into the intricacies of the trade.
