Massage retreat
Massage retreat
Hello everyone
I'd be grateful for any suggestions for a week long massage retreat place for my mum. She has bad joints and shoulders and is not hugely mobile.
She doesn't want yoga etc but just a nice location where she can get good daily massages - some years ago she really like massages in kerala but they were a bit hit and miss. I am looking for a tried and tested place that's not mega expensive. We will be in South India over Xmas.
Thailand is great for massages but I think she'd prefer India - but if anyone has non Indian suggestions will look at it.

Hi,
Try http://www.aryavaidyasala.com OR http://www.avpayurveda.com/
Both these places are very good but they take in people for treating specific ailments where the treatment is a combination of massages, ayurvedic treatment and a specific diet.
If she is looking for a spa kind of experience then there are not the right places, for serious ayurvedic stuff they are the best.
Cheers

The Arya Vaidya Sala is one of the best but might be a bit expensive. You may also check on a place called Nilayoram Resorts near Shoranur. I have been here a few years ago and they are very good. They have inhouse doctors and they also take expert opinions from the Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam. I found most of the guests in this place to be out patients or referrals from the samajan. They serve very good vegetarian food in a very strict routine. We initially found it difficult to adapt but got used to it and liked it. Kind of changed the routine and got our appetites back, when there.
