Madurai to Kerala

We will be driving from Madurai to the west coast over two or three days in November. Would you share any suggestions on off-the-beaten-path cultural highlights (other than Periyar)? Special temples, pilgrimage sites, unique towns?

Thanks for your reply. Ultimately we will end up in Kochi, but we could take the southern route and get there via Allepey as well.

Andipatti to Theni (NH 49)
Theni to Kambam (NH 220)
Kambam to Kumili (NH 220)
Kumili to Mundakayyam via Vandiperiyar (NH 220)
Madakayyam to Ponkunam (NH 220)
Ponkunam to Pampady (NH 220)
Pampady to Kottayam (NH 220)
Kottayam to Chanaganacherry (NH 220)
Chanaganacherry to Alleppey (Inter State Highway)
Alleppey to Kochi (NH 47)

Will come back to you with places of Interests in this route...
