Kodaikanal to Rameshwaram

Hi,

I m planning to travle kodaikanal to rameshwaram.
There is one way go to madurai and then rameshwaram but i dont want.
1).Is there any direct buses/train from Kodai to rameshwaram?
2).How about TAXI and any idea about fare only drop to rameshwaram.
3).Is Bus Booking in advance ??

If you engage taxi, you need to pay the "To&Fro" charge and it's a norm.

No.

Few points from my end

1. You may get direct buses to Rameswaram once you reach "Kodai road" / Dindugal [Around 80 kms from Kodaikanal] But these buses will pass in odd timings at night [ Starting their overnight journey from Coimbatore / Erode and seat will not be guaranteed and Really those overnight buses are very few] and anyways there are frequent buses between Madurai and Rameswaram

2.Best way is to get bus from Kodaikanal to Madurai and board any of the Passenger Or Express Trains to Rameswaram [ Trains will cover Madurai - Rameswaram from 3:30 Hours to 4 :00 Hours whereas buses will take invariably around 4 1/2 to even 5 hours]

3. Taxi will be comfort but as I told , it will be a Costly option.[ With To& Fro charges]

Very Useful information.
So in this case i have to take care travle time from Koidakanal to Madurai then MAdurai to Rameshwaram.
I can say it may be around 8-10 hours ( including Waiting time for Bus/train)
If any other possiblity you want to suggest plz point out.

May be, you can engage a Taxi from Kodaikanal to Madurai [To Just connect with the Rameswaram Train] in which case your travel time will be reduced a bit.

Yes, you may need to plan around 7 hours at the minimum if you plan for the abovesaid option.

As Far as I know, there are no other better alternatives for this Circuit. Hmmm On second thought, 3 days back I read in Mysore Edition newspaper about a "special train between Mysore and Rameswaram for summer months" and that's weekly train. If I am able to dig in the details, it will be very helpful for you. You can just engage Shared taxi[ Lot of Shared taxis operate on this Circuit from Kodaikanal to "Kodai Road Railway Station" just to match train departures / Arrivals ]and board this train for a comfortable journey.

Even if you hire a Full Taxi for you it may not cost you much as it's just 80 Kms and some cases where Taxis go to Railwaystation to pick up tourists , they will oblige Just for "To" Fare also.

I think that train u r talking runs only once in a week and its on monday 0689 +RAMESWARAM EXP

But its early in the morning at DINDIGUL JN 08:30 AM.
so this train is not the gud option for me.
