Or still, if it's bread you want you can just eat chappatis! All natural, no animal fat... in fact no fat at all!
You can even get wholemeal (what you call "fullkorn") chappatis which are made from 'atta' (flour). If you want to make these yourself, you can buy atta anywhere in Tamilnadu, Pondicherry or even India! |

I think a ricecooker i can use everywhere, 5 amp fuse, is enough for that. I have read about appartments in Pondicherry, witrh a cost around 7000 - 11000/month, but Pondicherry maybe is not the optimal, place for me. On the beach is the optimal stay.

Yes that is true... At least the last time I checked, getting rice in India wasn't that difficult either! ![]() I would just say the main thing is try and relax! I know you set out in a few days and might be a bit apprehensive, but most people who visit India make all sorts of plans and provisions, and then turn up and realise it's really all so different anyhow! In terms of your food at least, you will have no problems whatsoever! So many Indians are staunch vegetarians and even vegans! You will be able to pick up all the ingredients for wholesome vegan eating anywhere! It might not be exactly the same food (bread or whatever) that you eat in Sweden, but then again you are not travelling all the way to India to live the same life that you do in Sweden! You will unlikely need to travel the 200km roundtrip from Mahabalipuram to Auroville every week just to pick up your bread! When you get to India, this will all suddenly make sense to you! In any case, if you are not convinced... when you get there, just chat to a some local tamil guy and judge his reaction when you tell him of your intentions of a weekly bread run! That will soon set you right, and get you in the swing of things! |

I only mentioned Pondicherry as you mentioned you liked Auroville. Auroville is in Pondicherry! (Well technically it is in Tamilnadu but it is only 12km away).

Tomorrow morning i fly.
one plan was live in Repos Beach Huts, and cook my food in theres kitchen, and kitesurf on that beach. but kitesurfers in auroville (against commersial things) i don't know. in Vietnam, i cook very good food, with black sesamseeds, taste a lot better than in Sweden. real health bread is made with whole seeds, not only meal. in Vietnam i don't eat any bread, all 4 months, never find any. sometimes i eat only fruits and nuts. So it's all falling into place! That's good!
Drop us a line and let us know how your trip, kite surfing, water purifying and cooking exploits go go when you get there! I think a dose of India might do you a world of good! |
