Kanyakumari - How to reach and Places to see
Dear All
I am planning for a trip to Kanyamumari and Kovalam.. Could anyone please answer the following queries? 1) My flight will reach Trivandrum Airport at 10.30 AM. How do I reach Kanyakumari by BUS? Are there any private buses also for Kanyakumari? I have checked Train timings and they don't suit me. 2) Any idea about how much a Taxi would cost from TVM Airport to kanyakumari? 3) Which all places are good to visit in Kanyakumari? Is there any good beach in Kanyakumari? 4) How is the Baywatch Amusement Park in Kanyakumari? Is there anything special worth visiting there or its just a normal theme park? 5) How do I reach Kovalam Beach from Kanyakumari? What are available options? Thanks VS |

1) Take an auto and go to Trivandrum bus depot (station). From there you will get buses for Kanyakumari. Or else take bus to Nagercoil and then to Kanyakumari.
3) You can see the Vivekanand Rock Memorial, Thiruvalluvar Statue, temple, Lighthouse, Muttom Beach, Museum near railway station 5) You can again take prepaid taxi or normal auto to go to Kovalam beach. |

I think for taxi you have to pay the interstate road tax and this will lead to extra cost, you can take a bus or catch a train to kanyakumari

Thanks everyone for responding.
I read in some thread in this forum that there are some Taxi Drivers who come to TVM to drop few tourists and they charge less for going to Kanyakumari. Is this true and happens quite regularly? |

plan it this way - trivandrum - kovalam - kanyakumari - trivandrum..
returning taxis is not guaranteed. cost is not very different any way.. distance is not far......and buses are dime a dozen... also, check out trains...there are quite a few of them as well. ribhu |

I'm a staunch supporter of places near Kanyakumari. My father is working somewhere near and I can't wait for my vacations.
The best beaches in India (as far as I've travelled) are in Kanyakumari (KK) Dt. in Tamil Nadu. Colachel (the best beach of India, IMO), Muttom, Thengapattanam, Vattakotai and many other beaches are just awesome. I've been to Varkala but I didn't find it as awesome as beaches of KK Dt. Not that Varkala is bad but these beaches are virgin and unspoiled. Not many know about it. Liquor shops are less crowded than those of Kanyakumari is just 1.5-2 hr ride from Thiruvananthapuram. The other places I mentioned is 20-45 minutes from Marthandam (1-1.5 hr from Thiruvananthapuram). More of the awesome places in Kanyakumari district: http://incrediblekumari.blogspot.com/ |
