Hello gomathi7 and welcome to indiamike.
Maybe there are some in our hotel section, you could check. If you give us some idea of your budget, maybe somebody can help. |

Best value for money right now [off season] is the Hotel Tamil Nadu run by the govt TTDC. you can check availability and rates, booking etc at tamilnadutourism.org
I have stayed here many times in the off season, as apart from being low priced, its also best located on a small hillock, quiet and just 5 min walk from the main Charring Cross / Commercial St area. Last edited by machadinha : Feb 18th, 2008 at 15:54. Reason: removed full quote |

Budget is the main issue; If you can afford it: Hotel Kings Cliff is a lovely heritage bungalow. Further up strawberry hill is Howard Johnson The Monarch, a good 4 star hotel (with interesting discounts if no full).

i'm staying in the reflections guest house by the lake and it's lovely. really cosy rooms - 400rs without tv and 600 with tv. 10 minutes from the main drag and all the shops, food places and internetings.
lovely place, they arrange walking tours (and make you a packed lunch) with a really knowledgable chap, sightseeing tours around the nilgiris and will even arrange onward transport. they also have a communal sitting room with an open fire for chatting the night away. the food's not all that though..... all in all... a lovely place to stay ![]()

I lived in Ooty for 3 years..I know the places but I don't know about hotels though.
I hope the lake is cleaned up. It was a mess last time I was there - about 6 years back. Thoddabetta and the botanical garden are nice places to see. The narrow gauge train from Mettupalayam to Ooty is one of the best train rides you can get. ![]()

Woohoo a post about Ooty! A place I actually been to!
I wonder if the hotel "Ootygate" is still there? It is about a two mile walk from the town, and a mile from the state bus stand. When I stayed there it was about 600 rs a night, but that was a few years ago. It's an "Indian hotel", I was the only westerner, and the place was excellent! There was only one mosquito that I had to kill in all of three days, they rented heaters out for the cold, and had wool blankets, clean, and the only annoyance was the walk- but you could always take an auto... |
