getting from Thanjavur to Madurai
using Shaktipalooza's train site, I found out there is no direct train from Thanjavur to Madurai....
2083 JAN SHATABDI EX 15:05 15:10 1 hrs, 10 min 50 km M Layover (TPJ - TIRUCHCHIRAPALI) 16:20 17:30 1 hrs, 10 min 2635 VAIGAI EXP 20:10 2 hrs, 40 min 161 km View 5 hrs, 0 min 211 km this route is the least amount of time I assume I can also take a bus from Thanjavur...does anyone know how long a bus takes? or hiring a car, approximate cost to Madurai? thanks for any help! |

Around 150kms & 31/2 - 4 hours Journey by bus (Frequency is 1 1/2 hours once) It's better if you could travel to Trichy(54 kms, 1.15 hour - Excellent Road) and then get a train Or Bus (Around 140kms 3 hours - Frequency is 1/2 an hour once - Try to get SETC - Express Bus) to Madurai.
Hope this helps and I travelled in both the routes 3 years back !. Velu |
