Festival dates?

Google failed me - I don't know enough about the Tamil calendar to figure this out.

The following festivals' 2006 dates elude me:

Teppam float festival in Madurai
Chariot festival in Trichy
Thai Pusam in Palani
Banashankari Temple Festival [near Badami].

Thanks,
hfot2

-- and, slightly wierd question for an india forum. is it going to be celebrated on the same day in batu caves Kuala Lumpur? Im Guessing so because its related the pusam star in the tamil month of thai, but would love to know for sure as im about to book plane tickets to coincide with it.

I looked it up in the Tamil almanac. I forgot to look up the other festivals, I'll try to find the almanac and see.

My guess is Kuala Lumpur celebrates it the same day.

The Madurai festival starts 5 days after the full moon in the month of Chittirai (Which is April 14th-May 15th-ish), and lasts for 10 days, with days 8,9, and 10 being the biggest. So if anyone knows when the full moon is in April/May...

The problem is the Tamil calendar ends in April, so I don't have any concrete info for anything after that.

I found this at www.madurai.com/float in reference to the Teppam float festival which is what I asked about originally:

...The float festival was originated in the 17th century by king Thirumala Nayaka who reigned in Madurai. The local story is that the king had a new palace built and to make bricks for it, a great excavation was made. Later, he converted the excavated depression "into a sixteen acre lake, fed the same by the Vaigai river through underground channels and built the temple of Ganesha on the artificial island in the middle. Then he started the custom of taking the divine idols for a boat ride on the waters of the lake on his birthday. Generally, this festival is celebrated during January of the year beginning with Sankranthi (pongal) festival...

The Supreme Hotel in Madurai has informed me that the float festival in Madurai will be in January (I had hoped it would be in February). They will not know the exact date until December.
